How long?

Mankind is like a spoiled brat. Mother Earth gives us a finger. Mankind takes a whole arm! The question is: “For how long will mother Earth endure this?”

Earth Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity’s demand for ecological resources and services, such as food, water, and carbon sequestration, exceeds what the earth can regenerate in that year. In other words, it is the date when humanity’s annual demand for resources exceeds the earth’s capacity to regenerate those resources in that year. It raise awareness about the impact of our human activity on the planet and to encourage people to live more sustainably.

The goal of Earth Overshoot Day is to encourage people to think about their own consumption habits and the ways in which they can reduce their impact on the planet. The SDG-goals are a guide towards that Utopia.
